Christian Gourcuff is uncertain about his future with Algeria
It hasn’t even been 2 years since Christian Gourcuff took over the Algerian national football team but the French manager is already having doubts about whether or not he should remain in charge of the national side for a significantly longer period of time.
During Gourcuff’s time in charge of the team, he managed to push the squad into the quarter-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations which is a s significantly better finish in comparison to how they performed in the 2013 edition of the African competition where they couldn’t make it past the group stages.
“After the game against Senegal [1-0 victory in a friendly last month], I had said that there was a possibility for me to be gone in a month’s time.Right now I am going to take a few days off and think about what I must do. I cannot say if I am going to stay or not, because to take such a decision I first need to meet with the president of the Algerian federation and discuss things with him,” This was the statement that Christian Gourcuff released a few weeks ago in the beginning of December and so far no further news has been released in relation to what he will do.
When the Algerian national side was knocked out from the 2015 African Cup of Nations in the quarter-finals, Gourcuff was awarded with a contract extension.
Gourcuff has managed to collect a number of positive results as the head coach of Algeria, one of the most recent ones was the 7-0 triumph over Tanzania in the World Cup African Qualification.
However, even with these latest results it is rumored that Gourcuff is thinking about resigning from his coaching role in the national side and the French manager himself has stated that his future might be lying somewhere else.
