MALI AIM FOR WIN

The Mali national team manager, Patrice Carteron has said that he plans to take maximum points prior to the match against Algeria in September. Mali will be taking on Algeria in the World Cup qualifying match in September.

This is one of the difficult matches for Mali given that Algeria are currently top of the group. Even though Algeria are top of the group, Mali are level on points with them in the table. Patrice Carteron acknowledges the fact that Mali are the underdogs in the match between the table leaders because this would be an away match for them.

Brazilian national team manager Luiz Felipe Scolari has said that he is yet to decide whether a partnership between Kaka and Ronaldinho can be formed in the team once again.

Approaching the twilight of their careers, Kaka and Ronaldinho are the last two Brazilian players to have been named as the best player in the world. However, they have been struggling to get into the national team for the last few years under the regime of Dunga and Mano Menezes.

ALGERIA BOW OUT

Despite not being favourites for the African cup of nations 2013, Algeria were expected to do well in the tournament and progress past the group stages. Algeria have qualified for this tournament after managing three successive victories in the final three qualifying matches. They will be playing in the group stages against the favourites like Côte d’Ivoire. Due to this tough draw for the team at the tournament itself, the results of the team will not be a factor towards judging the future of Vahid Halilhodzic.
