ALGERIA WARY OF MOROCCO
Algeria national team manager Vahid Halilhodzic has said that he is extremely wary of the threat posed by both Morocco and Senegal in the upcoming 2013 African nations cup qualifiers.
Algeria will now be facing Senegal and Morocco in the World Cup qualifiers for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. Even though they recently suffered heavy defeat at the hands of Mali, the nation is hopeful that they will be able to come away from these two matches in the best possible manner. Vahid Halilhodzic has warned that the team that they should not be complacent in the same manner as in the match against Mali.
Algeria recently defeated Gambia in the African cup of nations qualifier 4-1. The 2-1 loss at the hands of Mali in the last World Cup qualifiers has now been erased from the mind according to the manager.
However, they should be extremely aware of the threat given by both Morocco and Senegal, who are their next opponents in the World Cup qualifiers. The 59-year-old will be hoping to get his team to the 2013 African nations cup and also to the 2014 FIFA World Cup that will be held in Brazil, and the opportunity to face the likes of David Beckham and Fernando Torres.
“It is a marvelous win. Our opponent was not an easy team, yet we managed to score four times. I was very sad after the undeserved defeat against Mali. Also, the players were depressed, but they managed to deliver a good performance. I hope this win will motivate us a lot. We didn’t reach our goal yet. We must prepare well for the final round of the qualifiers. It will be a tough mission if the draw paired us alongside strong teams, like Senegal, Morocco or Benin,” said Vahid Halilhodzic after the match against Gambia that brought out the best in the team.
