MALI AIM FOR WIN

The Mali national team manager, Patrice Carteron has said that he plans to take maximum points prior to the match against Algeria in September. Mali will be taking on Algeria in the World Cup qualifying match in September.

This is one of the difficult matches for Mali given that Algeria are currently top of the group. Even though Algeria are top of the group, Mali are level on points with them in the table. Patrice Carteron acknowledges the fact that Mali are the underdogs in the match between the table leaders because this would be an away match for them.

Algeria are extremely strong at Blida, and Mali should take maximum points before the match in order to have a chance of going top of the table according to Carteron. Mali have had third placed finishes in the last two African cup of nations. They are an extremely strong African team, who are looking to qualify for the FIFA World Cup for the first time in their history. This would be a major relief for the nation, which has been suffering from war in recent years. Carteron has said that qualifying for the World Cup will provide a lot of joy to the nation as a whole.

“It would be very hard for us to beat Algeria on their home ground in Blida. We intend to garner maximum points against Benin and Rwanda at home in Bamako and head to Algeria with a solid lead at the summit of Group H. Imagine the joy this will bring. Imagine the lives such an event will touch in a country where there has been so much agony for more than two years now,” said Carteron in a recent interview. Mali has lost just two matches in the last five encounters and they will be taking on Rwanda and Benin in the next World Cup qualifying matches.
